8:30 Morning routine: After making a lunch choice, taking care of backpacks, and turning in purple folders, children complete morning work (math pages, reading independently or with a “study buddy”,Chrome book game practice, etc) (homeroom class) 8:45 Calendar routine: Includes many math and oral language skills. Class meeting: This will be time to compliment one another on the good things going on in our class and to problem-solve issues as they arise. We will also discuss class and school themes with our new social skills program called True Success. (together) 9:10 ST Math on the Chromebooks (homeroom) 9:30 Shared and independent writing: Children will observe modeled writing lessons, mini skill lessons, and engage in independent writing. (together and homeroom) 10:15 Recess (together) 10:45 Math (grade level: first graders w Mrs. Patterson, second graders w Mrs. Moffit) 11:45 Lunch (together) 12:15 Read Aloud We will read stories to the whole class based on topics we are learning about or several stories by one author to study that author’s style or genre. (together) 12:30 Literacy centers and guided reading groups. Title One teachers will be in our classrooms to work with small groups of children on reading and writing skills. We will use this time to pull children to read from books at their own level while students rotate through literacy based centers. (together) 1:30 Working with words: The children will practice phonics skills, spelling, sight words, word families, and grammar. We have library and assembly times by grade level on Mondays: 1st graders go to library at 1:30 followed by assembly at 2:00. 2nd graders go to assembly at 8:45 and library at 2:00. |
